Nostalgia for the 1980's

Nostalgia for the 1980's is becoming so popular that even people who weren't alive during the decade like to celebrate it as if they were. Youngsters of today will wear Adidas tracksuits and Kangol's and break out to the likes of Run DMC and LL Cool J. But those of us who witnessed the '80s firsthand aren't just sentimental for the era. We were the experimental cultural cliches that people try to emulate today. We are the '80's and the '80's are us.

"Gen X"

The Middle Child

For those of us that were born between the late 60's and late 70's and came of age primarily in the 80's. We found ourselves squashed between two much larger generations, 'The Baby Boomers' and 'Millennial's' and as a consequence categorized as the "neglected middle child". But while we've been busy being demographically overlooked and approaching middle age at hyper speed, a lot of us have been introducing our sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren to some of our prized pop-cultural possessions that consumed our childhoods: E.T and Star Wars, PacMan and Atari, The A Team and Airwolf, The Goonies and Back to the Future, Michael Jackson and Prince.

Today's digital advancements have made it possible for us to show our children anything from our childhood in an instant, at the click of a button or swipe of a finger. When these
Gen-X influenced kids grow up and start making movies and writing music you can imagine where a lot of their influences will come from. When a generation influences a second and a third generation in this way, it creates a pop-cultural ripple effect that keeps on going. Generation X may be neglected, but the pop-culture we grew up on , you couldn't ignore it if you tried!

Old Skool Movements the Podcast that escapes to a time period of fond memories of ones youth and to the last decade before the internet killed our attention spans and the imagination of today’s kids.

Yet another magnificent show, it had me laughing and talking to myself, especially with "Why, Don't, You" because I thought me and my cousin were the only ones to turn off the TV during the theme tune and went outside to play, When I heard you and Chris did it I was in stitches
